What is the Sports Premium?
The government is spending over £450 million on funding sports over the three academic years 2013 to 2014, 2014 to 2015 and 2015 to 2016. The funding is being provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture as well as Media and Sport. It will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
Purpose of the Funding
All schools have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport. However, schools are able to choose how this is done. At our school we recognise how PE and Games contribute to the health and well-being of the children. Also, we believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive effect on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all children.
